Although 100th day is celebrated all across Jefferson Parish Public Schools, not all were visited by the infamous Zero the Hero. “Zero the Hero here, letting you know to keep up the good work and continue your goal to the next grade!”
The mascot for 100th day went around to each classroom and let them know he was supporting them every step of the way. Teachers and students embraced him as well as their continuing studies in math using the 3 digit number. “Having this day a part of our curriculum makes it so much fun for the students,” says 2nd grade teacher Ms. Aime, “It brings out the fun and is also educational which is what we need every now and again.”
At the end of the day, the entire school congregated with Zero the Hero to count all the way to 100. “Can we show Zero the Hero that we can count by 5’s to 100?” yells Math Strategist Ms. Albrecht, as the kids shout the numbers up to the larger number.
Zero the Hero said his goodbyes at the end of the day and says he hopes to return next year with his sidekick Even Number Man.
